Obituary of Helen Nemanishen

Helen Nemanishen, beloved wife of Walter, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at the age of 74 years, after a tough two-year battle with cancer. A child of the Great Depression, Helen was born New Year’s Day on her parents’ snowbound homestead near Aaron, SK. As a young teen, Helen accepted the Lord at an old-fashioned “Tent Revival Meeting” and was baptized in the chilly waters of the Swan River which flowed past her home near Benito, MB, where she attended High School. Those early roots made her a cheerful and generous Bible-based believer. Mourning her sudden passing is her husband of fifty years Walter; two daughters Carol (grandchildren, Cian, Kevin and Lyndsey) and Gail (husband Lowell Deering and grandsons, Caleb and Tobin). A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40th Street S.E.) on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers and sympathy cards, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Mustard Seed Street Ministry, 102 – 11 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0X5 Telephone: (403) 269-1319, www.theseed.ca or to Mission Aviation Fellowship, P.O. Box 368, Guelph, ON N1H 6K5 Telephone: 1.877.351.9344, www.mafc.org. The family sincerely thanks the paramedics and fire department squads who responded within minutes to 911 calls placed on July 7 and July 21 and the Rockyview General Hospital CODE ROOM and Unit 83 doctors, nurses and support staff who provided superb medical treatment. In living memory of Helen Nemanishen, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
