Obituary of Clark – Dorothy Marguarite

Dorothy passed away quietly on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 surrounded by her family after a prolonged illness. Dorothy was born March 15, 1926 in Red Cross, Saskatchewan where she spent her early years. Dorothy left school before graduating in order to help support her family. One of her proudest achievements was attaining her high school diploma in her 40’s. She moved to Saskatoon as a young woman to take a position as a pastry chef at the University of Saskatchewan. She met George in Saskatoon and they married in 1948. Dorothy and George lived in Estevan, Saskatchewan before coming to Calgary in 1956, where Dorothy resided until her passing. Dorothy worked at North Hill Sears for twenty years, retiring at the age of 75. She was an active volunteer at St. Pius X Church, St. Vincent de Paul , CWL and the church choir. Dorothy had many passions, especially tending to her garden, flowers and singing for many occasions. Dorothy was always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need, whether they were family, friends or even strangers on the street. She will be sadly missed by all who know her. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her children, Jim Clark, Donna (Mike) Zacharuk, Susan (John) Whittaker, Dave (Nikki) Clark and son-in-law Murray Nutt; grandchildren, Tammy (Al) Vorgaard, Daniel Zacharuk, Robyn (Nate) Nutt, Jeremy (Becky) Nutt, Chelsea (James) Whittaker, Geoff Whittaker, Eddie, Charlotte and Vincent Clark; great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Rylan, Jordan, and Zoey. She is also survived by her sisters, Shirley and Hilda; and brothers, Ray and Gerald. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, George and daughter, Lois Nutt. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery, Forward condolences through .
