Marquerite Barton

Obituary of Marquerite Anne Barton

Maggie Barton beloved wife of Dwight Barton of Calgary passed away on July 20, 2009 at the age of 49 years. Maggie was born in Oakland, California and raised in St. Albert, AB., the youngest child of Edward and Margaret McLoughlin. Although she came to Canada at an early age, in many respects she was always a California girl. Upon graduation from High School, Maggie moved to Edmonton working in commercial real estate before entering the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. After completing her studies, Maggie came to Calgary to pursue a career in Pediatric Dental Hygiene. It was in Calgary where Maggie met and married Dwight, and gave birth to their two beautiful children, Meghan and Desmond. A zest for early morning fitness at The Glencoe Club was replaced in recent years with a passion for yoga. Maggie’s natural athleticism allowed her to readily pick up a golf club, tennis racket or strap on a pair of skis with her family. Children in general, Meghan and Desmond in particular, were her greatest joy. She possessed a warm smile, sense of humour and a love of music and warm weather. A spiritual being, Maggie wore her heart on her sleeve. The outpouring of love, support and prayers from innumerable friends over the past months is a testament to the positive impact Maggie had on those she knew. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. Maggie is survived by her loving husband Dwight; daughter Meghan; son Desmond; brothers Brian(Lynn) and Kevin(Creanagh) as well as by her Aunt Kathy and nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Margaret and her beloved sister Moira. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602-8th Street S.W.) on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made directly to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, Alberta Branch, #110, 1202 Centre Street S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 5A5. In living memory of Maggie Barton, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403) 243-8200.
