Patrick McManus

Obituary of Patrick John McManus

Patrick McManus of Calgary passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009 at the age of 92 years at the Colonel Belcher Veteran’s Care Center where he spent the last three years of his life. He was a sweet and gentle man and he will be missed. Pat came to Canada from Nottingham, England near the end of the Second World War to train in the British Air Force. After the war, he decided to stay in Canada and Beryl joined him in Calgary. Patrick was a letter carrier for much of his working life and he loved to walk. Near the end of his life he was confined to a wheelchair but lately he was dreaming about walking again. We hope that now he is doing that and more. Patrick is survived by his children; Sheila (Barry) and Chris (Barb); his grandchildren, Sean and Laura, and niece Ann Artimatas. Patrick was predeceased by his wife Beryl in 2007. At Pat’s request, no funeral service will be held. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family is grateful to the many people who cared for him at both Extendicare Hillcrest and the Colonel Belcher, who always treated him with respect and sometimes even with love. In living memory of Patrick McManus, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
