Obituary of George Albert Schroeder

George beloved husband of Barb for 49 years of Calgary, passed away peacefully at Agape Hospice on July 13, 2009 at the age of 72 years. George was born and raised in Calgary, working for CP Rail – Ogden Shops for 38 years, until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, curling, skating, fishing and travelling. His most enjoyable moments were spending time with his grandchildren. George is survived by his loving wife Barb; son Dean (Rhonda), daughter Corinne (Jeff) El Ferro; three grandchildren, Tyler, Safiya and Alia. George is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Fred (Donna), Allan (Mary-Ellen), Fran, Lynn (Bruce), in-laws Don (Shirley) Junk, Linda (Reuben) Wahler, Joanne (Dennis) Cale and Frank Smey, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. George was predeceased by his father Fred in 1972, sister Kay Smey in 1993 and mother Katie in 1996. A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N E) on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. A Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
