Obituary
Obituary of Marie Plishka
Our courageous mother left us much too soon on Sunday, July 5, 2009 after a brief stay at Chinook Hospice.
We are grateful that Mom was able to celebrate her 84th birthday with family and friends. Marie was a native Calgarian who attended Stanley Jones and Crescent Heights High School, she was an active member of the original St. Stephen and Assumption Ukrainian Catholic youth groups. After she and Dad raised their family, Mom returned to part time and volunteer work as well as teaching crafts in the community. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, a good card game and most recently, the challenges of oil painting. She will be fondly remembered as a much loved wife, mother, nana, sister and friend.
Marie will always be cherished by Teri, Carol and Kelly, Randy and Diana, granddaughters Jacqueline and Sarah; sister Anne; as well as extended family and long time friends. She was predeceased by Michael (Mike), her loving husband of fifty one years, her parents Alex and Helen, as well as her brother Mike.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 45th Street S.W.) on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.
Divine Liturgy for the Deceased will be celebrated at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Father Peter Babej presiding. A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. We thank Marie’s many doctors and caregivers throughout her illness.
