Obituary of Kenneth Edward Deminchuk
Kenneth (Ken) Deminchuk, beloved husband of Angie Deminchuk of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 66 years.
Ken was born on July 28, 1942, and grew up in the Stonehenge district in Southern Saskatchewan. For the first ten years of his schooling, Ken attended the one-room school at Stonehenge, later attending Assiniboia Composite High for grades eleven and twelve. He then entered the School of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon Campus. After graduating with his degree, Ken held various jobs, including working for HFC in Moosejaw, SK, Firestone in Regina, SK, and the Co-Op in Calgary. In 1978, he married Angie Blomme and together they began their wedded life in Calgary. Most recently, Ken and Angie owned and operated Snowbird Medi-Quote Insurance until their retirement in 2005. They were able to spend more time travelling and wintering in the sunshine of Arizona and Mexico.
Besides his loving wife Angie, Ken is also survived by siblings, Dennis, Dianne, Darren (Dana), Donna, and Linda; step-children, Linda (Ken) Matwie of St. Albert, AB, Sheldon (Alana) of Viscount, SK, and the late Clinton (Sandy) of Calgary, AB; and eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Ken was predeceased by his first wife Sharon Sweeney in 1974, and by parents, Anne in 1988 and William in 1992.
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
