Obituary of Teolinda do Carmo Sousa Resendes

Teolinda Resendes, beloved wife of Jose Resendes of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the age of 75 years. Teolinda was born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. She immigrated to Calgary with her seven children in 1965, to join her husband Jose, who had already immigrated to Canada in 1963 to prepare a home for his family. Teolinda might not have had any formal education, but was the smartest person her family knew. Her life’s goal was to make sure that her family always remembered the many traditions from Portugal, by making every Easter and Christmas Holiday extra special. She also never forgot any ones birthday. Her family will forever miss her Portuguese bacon, bolo duce and malasadas. Besides her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Teolinda is survived by her seven children, Amancio, Nuno, Margarida, Celeste, Anna, Dennis, and Benvinda; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Francesca, Maria and Rosa; brother Antonio; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Maria and brother Ezidro. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church (4747 – 30th Street S.E.) on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated following prayers commencing at 9:30 a.m. Graveside Services to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
