Obituary of Yolande Marie Freeze
Yolande Freeze, beloved wife of Dr. Howard Frank Freeze, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, after a battle with cancer at the age of 68 years.
Yolande was the founder and artistic director of the Millenium Music Foundation. She was a strong classical music and fine arts supporter in Calgary. Her contributions extended to the Banff Centre, Esther Honens International, and the University of Calgary as well as the Calgary Philharmonic. Further involvements included the sponsoring of musicians around the world. Yolande was a recent recipient of the Global Calgary Women of Vision. She was trained in architecture in Poland, obtained her Masters Degree in Montreal and was a member of the Alberta Institute of Architecture.
Besides her loving husband of twenty-five years, Yolande is survived by her daughter Caroline Freeze; two brothers-in-law, Dave (Annie) Freeze and Robert (Audrey) Freeze; and her polish family, Professor J. Greger (Krystyna) and their children, Paulina Politanska and Maciej Greger as well as special friends, Sister Barbara Chodkowska and Alan Marritt.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) today, June 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Polish Catholic Church (2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W.) on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services to follow in St. Joseph’s Section at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
