Obituary of Guerrino Peter Serani

Guerrino Peter Serani of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the age of 94 years, with his loving family by his side. Born in Calgary in 1914 to Italian immigrant parents with brother Joseph (Peppe) and sister Yolanda Barbaro. There were many great stories and photos of the early years in Calgary. In his own words he had a great life in Calgary and he and his wife Catherine helped many new Italian immigrants start out here. Peter is survived by his sons, Nello (Rosa) and Richard (Danielle); grandchildren, Nadia (Dave) Scarpino, Angela, Reno, Anthony, Leanne, and Michael. Peter was predeceased by his loving wife Caterina in 1981, and he was loved by all who knew him. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.) on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
