Obituary of Shelly Rose Cutter

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, mother, auntie, grandmother, cousin and daughter at the Strathmore Hospital on June 13, 2009 at 5:20 a.m. at the age of 49 years. Shelly was born at Siksika Nation, Alberta on November 2, 1959, though spent most of her life in Calgary. She is survived by her loving children, Cora (Kent), Colleen, Cody, Curtis, Chantel and Christian; father George (Rachel) Cardinal; adoptive father Larry Leather; sisters Karen (Stan), Angie (Delmar), Tilley (Elliot), Thelma, Leeanne, Lainey, Jenny Goodin, and Girlie Leather; brothers, Kelly, Tracy (Tara), Rosario Duck Chief (Tina), Ricky (Marion) Bear Hat, Warren Winnipeg, and Nathan Leather; aunties Irene Bull Bear, Helen Medicine Traveller and Donna (Byron) French; and uncle Leonard (Nadine) Solway; as well as extended family from Cutter’s, Many Bears, Running Birds, Munroe’s via Siksika Nation and Browning, Montana, U.S.A. She was predeceased by her mother Betsy; brother, Terrold; sister Delphine (Rhumba); nephews Sheldon and Dustin; niece Meghan Jewel; as well as adoptive mom Sarah Leather. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Karen and Stan Three Suns (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Chicago Cemetery. We, the family would like to thank Strathmore staff from Acute Care for making Shelly comfortable during her last two days; our sister Jenny Goodin and special friend Flora Royal for being with Shelly during her illness; as well as Denise for doing her laundry when needed.
