Obituary of Donald H. Cowan
Don passed away unexpectedly in his home at the age of 76, on Saturday, June 13, 2009 in Calgary.
Born in Medicine Hat Alberta on March 21 1933. Don received his education at SAIT in Calgary and University Of Madison Wisconsin. He initially worked in the oil field and moved frequently around Southern Alberta for Nova an Alberta Corporation as a welder. He also loved to take photos and was a professional wedding photographer who was well known for restoring old photographs. He married Zelma Rutschke on June 27, 1959 and is predeceased by her. Don had a strong bond with his friends and family. He enjoyed playing cards, doing crosswords, camping, fishing and cooking. Don will be remembered for his generosity and ‘special’ way of getting a point across.
He will be missed, with loving memories by his daughter and son-in-law Taryl (Terri) and Paul Goodacre; son Todd Cowan; five granddaughters, Adriana and Kristen Goodacre, Laura, Beth, and Erin Cowan; two surviving sisters, Effie Styles and Elsie Landon, and his special friend Lil; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
At Don’s request a small graveside ceremony well be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Bassano Cemetery. Friends and family are all welcome.
