Harold Barclay

Obituary of Harold James Barclay

Sadly and with much love, we announce the passing of Harold Barclay at the age of 91. Harold was born in Toronto, graduated from McGill University, joined Price Waterhouse and obtained his CA in 1947. The family moved to Calgary in 1952 where Harold had a long distinguished career as a Partner with Price Waterhouse. He was always physically active, skiing and playing tennis in his younger days, and then adopted golf as his favourite past time. He enjoyed many years of golf at the Calgary Golf and Country Club with very good friends. After his retirement in 1980, he and Gladys spent the winter months in Maui. He loved walking the beach miles each day, swimming in the ocean, and playing golf. Harold lived a long good life. He was a proud father and grandfather and had many wonderful friends. He will be greatly missed – But we will always remember his hearty laugh and love of life. Harold is survived by his daughter Lynn Nielsen, and son in law Ole; grandsons Brent (Tracey), and Scott (Shelby), all of Richmond, BC; and his sister Jean Brown of Toronto. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys in 2000. A Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A special thank you to Calgary Family Services, especially to Krystina and Lily, for their care and kindness this past year.
