Obituary of Hazel Irene Schultz

Hazel Schultz passed away peacefully on June 2, 2009 at the age of 95 years. Hazel was born in Beiseker, AB and at the age of seventeen attended Normal School in Calgary where she met Walter Schultz. Hazel taught in Beiseker before marrying Walter in 1938. They were married for sixty years until Walter’s passing in 1998. With their daughter Judy, Hazel and Walter moved to Trail, BC in 1945 where they worked together in the photography business. Their son Gordon arrived in 1952. In 1957, the family moved back to Calgary to operate Camera Crafts and settled in Briar Hill. Hazel was happy to reunite with family and friends and enjoyed bowling, delivering Meals on Wheels and calligraphy. She and Walter enjoyed many trips together and relaxing at their cottage at Lake Windermere. Hazel moved to Royal Park Senior Residences in 1999 where she lived for eight years until entering Sarcee long term care in November, 2008. Hazel’s kindness and consideration were appreciated by all who knew her, inspiring many wonderful people who loved and cared for her. She will be dearly missed by her children Judy Gillespie of Calgary and Gordon (Coreen) Schultz of Canmore; grandchildren David, Jane (Dave), Paul, Cole and Morgan; her sister Muriel Kinsella; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Hazel’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
