With warm memories and deep gratitude we remember a loving Husband, Father and dear friend. Jon Glans lost his heroic battle with cancer on May 28th, surrounded by many of his family members. Born February 21, 1933 in Burns Lake, BC, Jon is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Elise; sons, Laurie (Donna Kennedy-Glans) and Gary (Chris Gilliland); daughter Belinda (David Perrin); grandsons, Graydon, Mitchell and Liam Glans and Curtis Perrin; mother-in-law Marta Hilbrecht; and sisters, Anne (John) Hiebert and Ellen Wiege. Jon was predeceased by his father Jonas, mother Ella, and father-in-law Artur. Jon was deeply committed to his family, church and community through whom he received great pride and joy. He spent nineteen years with Manulife before owning his own business – KAMCO Music and Sound. He was an active member of Kinsmen, Foothills Lutheran Church, and enjoyed many years on the golf course with his friends at Silver Springs. More recently he was involved with fundraising and increasing awareness for lung cancer. Family members would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. J.W. Mayhew, Dr. D.G. Bebb, his nurse Kathy Fedechko and the medical staff of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for all their compassion and care. Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church (3104 – 34 Avenue N.W) on Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 at 3:00 pm. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
