Obituary of Patrick Pat Stevens

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Stevens: husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandson, and friend. Pat, of Siksika Nation, was known by many and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Pat was born on August 2, 1974 in Calgary, and passed away on May 23, 2009 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 34 years. Pat is well known for his sense of humour and he just loved to make people smile. He loved his wife dearly, was devoted to his children and cherished his nieces and nephews. He had a passion for playing guitar and took pride when his children shared the same interest. As a teenager, he participated in minor sports including hockey and cross- country running. Patrick is survived by the love of his life, Tara Running Rabbit, and his children Renelle and Russell who were his pride and joy. Pat also leaves to mourn his parents Myrna (Gerald) Stevens and Michael Bear Hat; sisters Carrie and Aquina (Ira); brothers Mickey (Livia), Nicholas (Rae), Franklin (Courtney), and Scott; grandmother Vera; adopted son Jericho First Rider; in-laws Arnold and Lena, Sherri and Arnold Jr. Running Rabbit. Pat is also survived by his aunts Jennifer (Allan) Medicine Traveller, Sharon (Curtis), Mary Ann and Alexis (Sam) Stevens, Dorine (George) Wright, Elaine (Roy) Bear Chief; uncles Bryan (Jeanette) and Rocky (Ann) Stevens, Douglas and Errol Bear Hat; nieces Danielle, Maddy, Tanesha, Annalyssa, Autumn, Mickey, Rayden, Nikki, Andi; nephews Mase, Logan, Riley, Masen, Hayden, Seth, Krillon, Donovan, and Tyrell; adopted parents Morris and Myrna Running Rabbit, as well as numerous cousins, and extended families. Pat had many friends whom he made numerous memories with including his best friends Marlin (Karia) Running Rabbit, Rambert Red Crow, Quinton (Harriet) Broad Scalplock, Donovan and Clayton Medicine Traveller. Patrick was predeceased by his grandparents Harry Stevens, Gilbert and Violet Bear Hat; brother Justin; aunts Lilly Healy, Vivian (Roy) Sitting Eagle and Noella Bear Hat; uncles Alvin, Orland, and Rennie Stevens, Arnold, Buster, Danny, and Joseph Bear Hat; special friends Jody Bear Hat, Elroy Good Eagle, Todd Yellow Old Woman, Kelly and Jason Red Crow, Tory and Sherwin Low Horn. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Tara Running Rabbit and Patrick Stevens on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery.
