Dallas Tarves

Obituary of Dallas Lorraine Tarves

Dallas Tarves, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the age of 84 years. Born in Calgary, she attended Colonel Walker School and Western Canada High School. Dallas was employed for many years at Woodwards department store where numerous lasting friendships were made. She had a tremendous concern for the welfare of all animals which resulted in several stray dogs, birds and cats finding a permanent home with her family over the years. She also enjoyed playing bingo, golf, bowling and cooking. Although small in stature, her forceful golf swing earned her the nickname of “Mighty Mouse”. Dallas loved her family and often entertained by hosting large family dinners and legendary backyard barbeques where the occasional water fight was known to occur. Dallas will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 61 years Laurie; daughters Jill (Jim), Rene (Steve), Launa and Tracy; son Kim; grandchildren Shauna (Lee), Candice (Jeremy), and Evan; as well as extended family including Margaret Carr, Alice Carr, Gordon (Ethel) Tarves, Gordon (Joan) Evans, June Tarves, Gail (Jerry) Parcells, Lavina Tarves and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Vesta Carr; brothers Bud and Bruce Carr; as well as infant daughter Wanda Tarves.
