Obituary of Cyril James Welch

Jim Welch, beloved husband of Rita Welch of Calgary passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Jim founded Welco Expediting Ltd. in March of 1971, after a very successful tenure as Manager of a large equipment rental firm. Prior to that Jim was a Project Manager for one of Canada’s largest constructions firms, with experiences ranging managing strip mine operations in Western Canada and a dredging operation in Ontario, as well as supervising railway construction of the Quebec Northshore Labrador Railway. Jim was one of the first graduates of the Banff School of Advanced Management, member of the Royal Canadian Legion and life time member of the Canadian Institute of Mining. Besides his loving wife of sixty-one years Rita, Jim is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Trevor and Sandra, Michael and Jane; four grandchildren and their spouses Stacie and James Woolford, Russell and Crystal, Lyndsey and Lauren and three great-grandchildren Eric, Cassandra and Kyan.
