Obituary of Pearle Edna Ridley

Pearle Edna Ridley, beloved wife of Wally Ridley, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the age of 96 years. Pearle was born in Cayley, AB on February 14, 1913. She enjoyed nature and the beauty it offered all of us. Mum was raised both on a farm and in small Alberta towns before moving to Calgary in 1930. She met and married Wally in 1933. Both a consummate home-maker and worker in medical offices where she became interested in medical issues, she kept fastidious records of her own medical history. Her interest in youth development extended to Superintendent of CGIT (Scarboro) and involvement with Sunalta Home and School Assoc. She supported her community church, Scarboro, for over seventy years. She volunteered with the Scouting movement in Calgary. Mum liked hiking, camping, snowshoeing and shared her outdoor enthusiasm with friends and family. Her keen interest in nature was best expressed through photography and oil painting. Pearle will always be remembered by her children, Marvey Gallagher (grandkids and great-grandkids, Shelley Gallagher and Brent Podiluk, Alex, Evan and Glen, Patrick Gallagher), Terry Ridley (grandkids and great-grandkids, Wendy and Peter Davies, Melissa and Owen, Nancy and Kevin Stewart, Danielle and Tyler, Gary and Brenda Snodgrass, Keray and Keshia), Jim Ridley and Cathy Harrop (grandkids and great-grandkids, Ben and Noriko Ridley and Olive, Willow Ridley and Curtis Carriere, Andrew and Katie Fenton and Tailyn, Patrick Fenton, Sharon Fenton). She was predeceased by her loving husband Wally in 1983. A Celebration of Life will be held at Scarboro United Church (134 Scarboro Avenue S.W. Access from 17th Ave. going west up from 14 Street ) on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
