Obituary of Malvina Rose Berdin

Malvina Berdin, beloved wife of Arpi Berdin of Calgary, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the age of 67 years. Malvina was born on September 25, 1941 in Lethbridge, AB. and raised in Stirling. She began her career training as a registered nurse at the Calgary General Hospital and later married Arpi on July 28, 1962. They made their home in Calgary, raising their family and were very active within the community. Malvina dedicated her life to working alongside her husband in every aspect as well as to care for the needs of her family. Malvina was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She made everyone who came into her home feel welcome and at ease. Malvina had a wonderful sense of humour and always enjoyed a good laugh. Her greatest passion was cooking from open house events at the shop to preparing elegant gourmet dinner parties at her home. She loved to entertain and to read, especially cook books. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all her family and friends. Malvina is survived by her loving husband Arpi; son Arpad; daughters and sons-in-law Julie and Randy and their children, Scarlett and Reeve; Monica and Clinton and their children, Olive and Eero; sister and brother-in-law Linda and John Saler; as well as several nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by son Vincent in 1973; father Andrew Kupecz in 1969; mother Mary Kupecz in 1976; sister Mary Vandenburg in 1997; brother Andy Kupecz in 1993; sister-in-law Johanna Kupecz in 1994; mother-in-law Margaret Szabo (Berdin) in 2005; brother-in-law Andy (Karcsi) Szabo in 1993; and nephew Robert Kupecz in 1992. A Private Family Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
