Obituary of Carol Ann McMullen

Carol Ann McMullen, beloved wife of Brad McMullen of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a 17 year battle with cancer on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at the age of 66 years. Carol was born in Lethbridge on October 26, 1942. She moved to Medicine Hat with her family in 1946, where she grew up across the street from her future husband Brad. Carol attended Montreal Street and Elm Street Elementary, Alexander Junior High, and Medicine HatHigh Schools. She took hairdressing in Lethbridge, AB in 1960 and married her soul-mate Brad in 1961. Brad’s career in the air force took them to many bases in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Ontario where Carol met many friends that continue to be part of her family’s lives today. They would often joke about living in “Hotel McMullen” with all the company they used to receive. Carol started her career with the Hudson Bay Company in Moosonee, ON where she purchased furs and soap stone carvings from the traders in the area. After Brad retired from the RCAF in 1979 they moved to Penhold, AB and relocated to Calgary in 1988. Carol retired from the Bay in 2003 in Calgary, when she could no longer continue to work as the cancer progressed. Carol will be sadly missed by her loving husband Brad; daughters, Shawna (Dave) Cook, Tannis (Michael) Daines; son Tim (Lonni) McMullen; mother Alice Wray; grandchildren, Kirsti, Breana, Brooklyn, Rayel, Brenten, Kristin, Ryan and Jared; sister Patty (Dave) Walker; and brother Dale (Brenda) Wray. Carol was predeceased by her father Webb Wray. A Celebration of Carol’s Life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Royal Oak Chapel (81 Royal Elm Drive N.W.)
