Obituary of Jack Bermack

Jack Bermack, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Foothills Medical Centre, after a long, brave and valiant battle with a very rare tumour, at the age of 82 years Jack was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the youngest of five children. He grew up in Winnipeg and moved to Calgary with Warner Bros. in 1948, where he met his bride to be. Jack settled in Calgary, but then work took him and his family to Winnipeg for a few years. Upon their return to Calgary, Jack changed careers and joined the life insurance business. Never shying away from some new challenges, in his later years he went back and qualified in general insurance and he spent twenty-five years with Perma Insurance. His passion for friends, family, hockey, and curling endured right to the end. Jack’s infectious warmth and bright smile will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Sheila, his dear wife of fifty-nine years; his three children, Nadene (Jay), Cheryl (Aaron), and Francine; along with his grandchildren whom he cherished, Stephen (Janice), Aaron, Ben and Emily. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Esther; his sisters, Myrna and Ann; his brother Jimmy; and his granddaughter Tamara. Funeral services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue (1325 – Glenmore Trail S) on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 1:30 p.m.. Internment to follow at Erlton Cemetery (Erlton Street and 32nd Ave SW).
