Obituary of Frank Evanson
Frank Evanson of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, April 29, 2009 at the age of 92 years.
Frank was born on January 5, 1917 in Smokey Lake, AB. He worked on the family ranch for many years, obtaining his grade six education in Kingman, AB. Frank operated a trap line and later received his barbers certificate in Edmonton. Frank served his country with the RCAF, overseas in England, perfecting his chosen barbering profession. Upon returning to Canada, Frank established the Petroleum Building Barber Shop, in downtown Calgary which he operated for over 35 years retiring in 1980. He married Catherine Windle in 1958 and they resided in Meadow Lark Park for many years. Franks greatest passion was to meet new clients, and discuss world events. He also enjoyed dancing to the sounds of the Big Band Era, as well as to go hunting game birds. Frank was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Horton Road) and loved to be in the company of his family and friends.
Frank is survived by his loving daughter, and son-in-law, Michele Evanson and John MacRobbie; son Jim Evanson; grandchildren, Jamie and Michael Wallace, Megan and Iain MacRobbie; two brothers, Walter and Bill; three sisters, Ann, Olga and Cassie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Edenbrook Memorial Gardens. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
