Obituary of Frances Cecilia Cardle

Fran Cardle of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Fran was born in Bellevue, AB. She worked as a journalist in New York and San Francisco before returning to Calgary where she began her teaching career. As a teacher and principal, her children’s choirs were legendary, winning many city and provincial awards. An accomplished pianist (A.R.C.T.), Fran attended Gonzaga University (Spokane) on a music scholarship receiving a B.A. degree while touring as a piano soloist with the internationally acclaimed Gonzaga Men’s Glee Club. She later achieved an M.A. degree at the University of Calgary. For the past twelve years, Fran has derived great pleasure from her weekly association with “The Happy Gang”, a musical group of retired seniors intent on brightening the lives of residents in seniors’ homes throughout the city. Fran will be remembered by her brothers, Ed of Oliver, BC and John of Edmonton; sister-in-law Dorothy of Medicine Hat and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Helen Cardle; brothers, Jim, Terry, and Richard; and sister, Winnifred. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. She will be interred beside family members in the Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue, AB.
