Obituary of Dorothea Charlotte Piscopo
Dorothea Charlotte Piscopo (nee Reinhold), beloved wife of Benito (Ben) Piscopo of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the age of 80 years.
Dorothea was born in Belzig, Germany on November 4, 1928. She and Benito were married on November 25, 1952 and they shared fifty-six glorious years together. Together with her husband and children, Dorothea immigrated to Canada on June 23, 1974. She was a devoted mother and homemaker who viewed her greatest life achievement as raising and rearing her three children and granddaughter as well as surviving and living in Berlin, Germany during World War II amidst the destruction and chaos of the war. Dorothea was a strong woman who fought bravely throughout life, sacrificing many vacations and personal pleasures to ensure that her family was well taken care of physically, financially and emotionally. She was a humble woman, a woman of unbridled honesty and integrity, always saving her pennies for a rainy day.
Besides her loving husband Benito, Dorothea is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Sascha and Tanya Piscopo of Calgary; two daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela Piscopo of Langley, BC, Patricia and Franklin Marshall of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Jesse, Damian, Shane, Nadine, and Keely; and two great-grandchildren, Chanté and Kiana. She was predeceased by her parents Carl (1980) and Erna (1995); and stepdad Kurt (1957).
