Obituary of Nancy MacCallum
Our beloved mother and grandmother died early Tuesday morning at Foothills Hospital due to complications from a stroke on Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
Nan was born in Thorhild, AB. She graduated from the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton in 1947 and worked as a registered nurse. She married George MacCallum in 1949, beginning a fifty-nine year marriage. They lived in northern Alberta, Edmonton, Tulsa, Cremona, and Calgary. Together, Nan and George raised seven children and were beloved Granny and Grandpa to fourteen grandchildren. She supported George’s work as secretary for his consulting geology firm. Nan and George built a log house fondly known as “The Farm.” Nan was a strong, hard-working, hospitable and spiritual woman. She had uncanny instinctive, intuitive awareness and inspired others with her values. Family was her first priority.
Nan was predeceased by her beloved husband George in May 2008 and her dear son George in January 2009. She will be forever loved by her children, Margi Molyneux (Keith), Maureen Ranson (Bill), Bill MacCallum (Marcy), Pat Ryan (Kevin), Nancy Fleming (Byron), and Kathleen MacCallum; her grandchildren Jon (Melissa, great grandson Ryder George born October 2008), Chris (Sherra), Joanna (Sean), Kaele (Dustin), Luc, Alexa (Andrew), Dan (Christie), Nathan, Erin, Dustin, Will, Colin, Davan, and Brianna.
