Obituary of Edmona Gertrude RYAN

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Edmona (Mona) Gertrude Ryan on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Mona was born in Toronto and raised in Brockville Ontario. She met her husband and moved to Calgary in 1946 where they resided in Elbow Park and raised their family. She loved a good conversation and could speak on any topic. Mona loved gardening, music, golfing, reading, and playing cards with her friends. She volunteered in many different organizations, travelled extensively and particularly loved Mexico, Russia and Egypt. She enjoyed life, her family, relatives and friends. She was always there to listen and saw the positive side in everything. Mona was very graceful and treated everyone with respect and honour. She taught her children what life is all about, to look at the good side when times are tough, to give to those who have not, and to appreciate how fortunate we all are. She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her sons Paul, Jay, Michael, David (Teresa); daughter Jane; and grandchildren Lana, Karen, Kelly, Patrick, William, Matthew, Gabriella, Olivia, and Appeline. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. John Ryan in 1978. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. We would like to thank the Staff at Rockyview Hospital, Unit 74, and Southwood Hospice for their compassionate care.
