Obituary of Mary Patricia Susan Malthouse
Mary Malthouse of Calgary passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the age of 96 years. Mary was born in Calgary on March 17, 1913 to Ann and Bertram Mellor who had recently immigrated to Canada from England. Mary was raised and went to school in Calgary. She met Jack Malthouse on a blind date and they were married in 1939. During World War II, Mary worked for the British Missions in Washington, DC. After the war, she and Jack lived in London, Wainwright and Edmonton before settling back in Calgary, where Mary worked for many years in the offices at Eaton’s. She finally retired when she was 76 years old. Mary most cherished her time with her family, kinfolk and friends. She enjoyed skating and cross-country skiing along with various handicrafts especially painting in watercolours. Mary is survived by her husband of over 69 years, Jack; her son Gary (Linda); her daughter Sherry (Floyd); her grandson David (Stephanie); her granddaughter Krista (Dan); and her great-grandsons, Mark, Luc, and Ian; as well as her brother Robert (Edna). She was predeceased by her father Bertram, her mother Ann, and her brother William. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
