Obituary of Joyce Marion Runge

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and aunt, Joyce Runge of Priddis, AB on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the age of 80 years. Joyce was born and raised on the Sarcee Reserve and attended grade school at Westoe School in Priddis, AB. She continued her education and graduated from the Alberta Nursing Association in 1947. Joyce married Roy in 1949, and farmed near Priddis for numerous years. Besides farming with her husband she drove school bus for the Foothills School Division and worked at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #285. Joyce came from a very musical family and formed her love of music and dancing through out her life. She will always be remembered for her humour, smile and always added spice in her families’ lives. Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Marie Nickle (Tom) and Michelle Runge (Bob); grandchildren Sean (Holly), Shavonne (Cliff) and Trena (Joe); great-grandchildren Shane, Shantel, Jordon and Brayden and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1996; father John in 1945; mother Victoria in 1975; brothers Roy in 1980, Bill in 1992, Lawrence and Frank in 1997; sisters Maggie in 1925, Vicky in 2002 and Lucy in 2003. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB).
