Obituary of den Hartog
On Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at the age of 79 years, Ted passed away to be with his beloved wife Ruth. Ted was born and raised in Edmonton, where he married the love of his life Ruth (nee Kent) on September 17, 1951. He graduated from the U of A with a B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering in May of 1955, starting his career in Edmonton with Imperial Oil. Ted then moved to Calgary taking on a consulting position with Blackett Petroleum. After several years, Ted formed his own company, D & S Petroleum Consultants Ltd, acting as C.E.O. until his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, travel and spending time with good friends and family. Ted is survived by his children and their spouses, Blake and Susan den Hartog, Brad den Hartog, and Kim and Thomas Clerk; five grandchildren, Courtney (Stacy), Juliana, Daniel, Kendra, and Ashley; three great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Luke and Camryn; brother Al Rudkin and sister Norma Schmidek. Ted was predeceased by his loving wife of forty-three years Ruth and daughter-in-law Marcella. A Celebration of Ted’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
