Obituary of Lindsey Jolene Yellowhorse

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lindsey Jolene Yellowhorse (Aahpahpistakiki) on Wednesday April 1, 2009 at the age of 26. Lynz is survived by two beautiful children Kylee and Ephraim; her companion Dion; parents Chuck and JoAnne; brother Dedric (Tracy); sister Athena; and special older sisters Pam, Tammy, Lisa, and Jolie. Nieces Lexie, Madison, Kaitlynn, Dominique, Rhianna, Angelica, Jacinta, Sabrina and Tasha; nephew Jr. Red Crow; as well as the children of Jon and Jane. Grandparents Rosalyn, Jessie, Wilton and Donna; traditional parents Ronald & Sally; Aunts Regina (Leroy), Joyce, Tylan(Andy), Shelly, Bernadine(Kirk), Cecile(Darcy), Cecile(Horton), Lennie, Gabriella(Duane), Sharon(Nelson), Chandra, Delia, Verna(Harley), Stephanie, Donna, Rosie, Elnora, Joanne, Debra, Carma, and Corolla; god parents Randy & Caroline; uncles Tony, Jack, Alfred, Derek, Joe(Edith), Eldon(Alvina), Larry (Marvine), Rufus (Roberta), Hector Jr.(Rhonda), Harry, Spike, Aaron, Tyson, and Wesley(Regina); brothers-in-law Jon(Jane), Jerry(Bubs), Christopher, Tommy, Stephen, Marlon and Rick; sisters-in-Law Leslie, Lisa and Marla; great aunts Harvina(Rudy), Priscilla, Jaylene (Randy), AnnMarie(Leonard), Elsie; great uncles Hector Sr., Clayton(Joan), Rex, Gary, Duncan(Ruth), and Smokey(Trina); extended families of Winnipeg, Mayfield, Red Crow, Turning Robe, Pretty Young Man, Water Chief, Many Guns, Big Tobacco, Rabbit Carrier, Scalp Lock, Red Gun, Weasel Child, Raweater and Fox; as well as numerous relations in Kainai, Morley, Pikunii, Browning and Heart Butte. We apologize if we have missed anyone. Lynz graduated from Siksika Nation High School in 2001. She attended Mount Royal College and was interested in obtaining her Nursing Degree, however this was short term as she started her family and became a devoted mother to her children Kylee and Ephraim. Lynz trained in Tai Kwon Do in 1995-96 which she enjoyed. She made her cursillo in 2004 and her theme was “Here I Am Lord”. Lynz enjoyed watching the family team, Chicago West and occasionally played if the team was short a player, although you had to twist her arm to get her on the field. Lynz enjoyed teasing and joking around with her sisters, especially Athena. Since she was young she was known to her aunties as “Bee”. Lynz enjoyed visiting and text messaging with her friends. Her favourite lines were, “Mom, I’m out of minutes, can you get me some”. Her friends will always remember her for saying “you’re the best” and “Please”. Lynz was a quiet and gentle lady. She cherished her family and friends. Those who knew her will remember her for singing, stories and laughter. There were times when she lost her patience and her boldness came out. Lynz laughingly mentioned that when this happened she was “the strongest woman in the world”. But also jokingly adds “I better be careful in case I meet someone stronger”. She had many friends and welcomed any one as a friend including those younger and older than her. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 36 at the Foothills Hospital especially nurses Kyle and Chelsea. As well as Native Liaison worker Eileen and Social Worker, Tanya who made Lindsey’s stay more comfortable.
