Frances Atelevich

Obituary of Frances Jeanette Atelevich

Fran passed away peacefully and beautifully in her home on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the age of 70 years, with her three children holding her hands by candlelight, surrounded in rose petals and love. Fran had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in the third week of February and remained strong, brave and positive about her life throughout this time. Not once did Fran display self-pity. She showed everyone around her what life means in the face of adversity, and she cherished every waking moment with her family. Born Frances Jeanette Kadoski in Creston, BC to parents John and Mary Kadoski, Fran grew up in the Kootenay’s as a little girl before moving to Calgary where her father built the family home in Inglewood. Fran attended St. Mary’s School for girls where she maintained lifelong friendships to this day. In her twenties, Fran travelled across Europe where she met her soon-to-be husband Sam. The married couple spent several years in Burnaby, BC before moving back to Calgary and raising their three children in Oakridge. Fran was known for her beauty, independence, her strength, her loving heart, and her wonderful sense of humour. Her most recent employment was with Enmax for the past several years. She was grateful for the many friends and acquaintances of whom she always talked with many wonderful stories. Fran is survived by her three children, Patricia, Victor and Angela of Calgary; mother Mary; brother and sister-in-law Ken and Dawn; Aunt Fran and Uncle Tom Pierce; and numerous other family members. “So … there it is Mom. There it is.” A Celebration of Fran’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
