Obituary of S/Sgt. RCMP Ted Batycki

Ted Batycki, beloved husband of Terri Batycki of Calgary, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Ted was born on the family farm in Saskatchewan in 1934 to Carl and Frances Batycki. For a short time prior to joining the RCMP in 1953, he was a teacher and auto factory worker. Ted’s policing career was spent throughout British Columbia, where he met his wife and raised his family. Ted enjoyed a full life taking part in many community activities, making life-long friends wherever he went. He also was an avid sportsman. Ted rose to the rank of Staff-Sergeant, and retired in 1989 in Kelowna, BC. Following retirement, Ted and Terri continued to enjoy travelling by RV’s, vans, and trailers, visiting and supporting friends and family before settling in Calgary. Besides his loving wife of fifty years, Ted is survived by his three children and their families, sons Bruce (wife Sonia and daughter Kristine) and Kevin, and daughter Lisa (husband Robert Downs); brothers, Peter and Victor; and by sisters, Helen and Betty. Ted was predeceased by his brothers Adam, Florian, Frank, Julian, Leo, and Mike, and by his sister Bernice. Ted lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
