Obituary of Damiano Nicola Guzzardi
Damiano Nicola (Nick) Guzzardi, cherished husband of Sally, of Calgary. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 30, 2009. Nick was born in San Demetrio, Italy. He was educated in Classical School in Italy before entering the University of Bari to study chemical engineering. When Nick came to Canada he honed his architectural and drafting skills. He was employed by Transalta Utilities until his early retirement. In retirement he continued to enjoy his favourite activities, hiking, travelling in North America, Europe and Hawaii, designing and building a sunroom and extending his greenhouse to facilitate the copious amounts of unusual plants and flowers. A life-long photographer and movie maker Nick enjoyed making family movies complete with narrative and appropriate music. His high standards of perfectionism ensured many masterpieces we’re left to enjoy. Nick was a multilingual, intelligent, articulate man who had high expectations of himself (and others). His enthusiasm, tenacity and an insatiable thirst for knowledge made vacations somewhat of a marathon! – a marathon of social studies, culture and appreciation for Natural beauty. Besides being a loving husband to Sally, Nick was the devoted father to Mara (Larry), Riccardo (Lolita), Clara (Damian), and David; grandfather to Megan, Trevor, Sophia and Romina. He is also survived by his siblings and their families in Calgary, USA and Italy. Nick was predeceased by his wife Eda in 1984.
