Obituary of I. Grace Buchanan

Grace Buchanan of Calgary passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2009. We celebrate 98 years of a life well lived of a great lady, wife, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Grace was born July 29, 1910 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She moved to Edmonton at the age of two where she received her education and met James Buchanan whom she married in 1933. Grace took great pride in caring for her family and enjoyed her retirement in British Columbia since 1973. She returned to Calgary when it was seen she needed more care in 1997. Grace loved to entertain and made wonderful friends. Grace is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Mike Hunchak; son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Maria Buchanan; grandchildren, Sandra (Peter) St. Dennis, Todd (Marjorie) Hunchak, Arlene Hunchak (Tom Rosner), and Patty Beteta; and great grandchildren, Melissa and Anthony St. Dennis, Brett and Colton Hunchak and Caitlin Eisan. She was predeceased by her husband James MacIntosh Buchanan in 1994; parents, James and Ida Eaton; two sisters and a brother. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Queens Park Cemetery.
