Obituary of Mary Kerr Cowan
Mary Kerr Cowan passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Chinook Hospice at the age of 91 years.
Mary was the twin daughter of William and Annie (McKie) Murdoch and was born in Dalmellington, Ayrshire, Scotland. In 1993, she immigrated to Canada to join her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Mary was a grand old Scottish lady, loved and respected by all who knew her.
She will be sadly missed by daughter Gloria (Richard Dingwall) of Calgary; grandchildren, Jenifer and Christopher Dingwall of Calgary; son Leonard (Jean Wilson) of Dumfriesshire, Scotland;and by many dear friends in Calgary and family in the United Kingdom, France, Norway, and New Zealand. Mary was predeceased by her parents; sister Lydia; brothers, William, Matthew, Norman; and by her beloved husband of forty-eight years, Matthew Warwick Cowan.
Funeral services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’s Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family extends grateful thanks to Mary’s caregivers at Renoir Retirement Residence, the staff of Unit 58 of the Rockyview General Hospital, and Chinook Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. Thanks also to the ministers, elders, and friends of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
