Obituary of Herbert Victor Johnson

Herb Johnson, beloved husband of Cathy, of Calgary, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the age of 78 years. Herb was born in Winnipeg, the fourth of five children of Herb and Esther Johnson. Herb was a journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic working in the trade and as an Instructor at SAIT, NAIT and Singapore. He retired as a Heating Inspector for the City of Calgary in 1989. He was a master craftsman, designing and building numerous projects. His beautiful creations can be found in many homes. His pride and joy was the cabin that he and Cathy built in 1996 at Bergen Springs. He had a large and giving heart and would help anyone who asked. Herb is survived by his loving wife Cathy; daughters, Lynn (Cal) Koch, Sandi Yahn, Diane Schmidt; chosen children, Heather (David) Brent, Brad Bengtson; step-son, Bob (Debi) Hodgins; grandchildren, Shanna, Nicholas, Danielle, Bennett, Christopher, Amber, Dan, Mike, Jesse, Jordan; several step great grandchildren; sister, Betty Lee; brothers, Alf and Tom and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Ken and grandson. A Memorial will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
