Obituary of Joyce Karpinski

Joyce Karpinski of Calgary and formerly of Edmonton, passed away with her family and caregiver Jocelyn at her side, on Friday, March 13, 2009 at the age of 95 years. Joyce and her husband Stan, while able, went to the horseraces everyday. Her passion for Christmas cacti has been admired and shared by many people and her cooking skills, especially her perogies, cabbage rolls and homemade bread were loved by all. Let’s not forget her sewing, it was the best. Joyce is survived by her children, Eugene Bastura, Liz (Bob) LePage, Tere MacDonald (Terry Griffiths), Stan (Judy) Bastura; special foster son Greg (Annette) Anderson; loving caregiver Jocelyn Vergara; special friend, Nicky Varga; Grandchildren, Rick (Lisa) LePage and Michelle (Mike) Lukacs; grandchildren, Bob (Shona) MacDonald, Rod MacDonald and their father, R.A. Pinky MacDonald, Brenda (Trevor) Kriss; Brett Griffiths; grandchildren, Vanessa Bastura and Matthew (Nicole) Bastura, Troy (Andrea) Lukacs; grandchildren, Susan, Jason and Joanne Anderson; Great-grandchildren, Michael, Blair and Travis Lukacs; Brityn, Brayden and Zachary MacDonald and their mother Stephanie MacDonald; Bobby MacDonald; Kaitlyn and Kevin Kriss and Devin Griffiths, Portia, Claire and Micah Bastura, Chad and Raeann Lukacs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Stan Karpinski; her parents, Jozef and Anne; two brothers, John and Stan; and three sisters, Mary, Sophie and Helen. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated by Rev. Marius Sztuk SDS at ST. AUGUSTINE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH (5009 – 48th Avenue Taber, AB) on Saturday, March, 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Taber Memorial Garden.
