Obituary of Steve Joe Powell

Steve Joe Powell, beloved husband of Genevieve of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the age of 90 years. Steve served during WWII from 1939 to 1945. He went on to become one of Calgary’s first landscapers, owned and operated Steve’s Barber Shop in Inglewood for approximately fifteen years, and then Brentwood Barber and Style Shop, retiring in 1982. Steve was an excellent bowler and pool player. Besides his loving wife, Steve is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Ken, Brian, Tom and Kathy; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Kevin Philipow; beloved granddaughter, Amanda; and daughter Marie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank (Irene) Pawlowski, Sid (Irene) Pawlowski, Andy (Minnie) Powell, and Walter (Olga) Powell; sisters and brother-in-law Josephine Draganiuk, Olga (Leo) Gauthier and sister-in-law Helen Powell; and as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Anne; brothers and sister-in-law, Paul (Kay) and Stan; and sisters, Barbara and Rose. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Ascension Catholic Church (1100 Berkshire Boulevard N.W.) on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
