Obituary of James Stanley Shukin

Jim Shukin passed away suddenly on March 5, 2009 at the age of 67 years. Jim was born in Buchanan, SK, on June 24, 1941. He spent time in Winnipeg and Thompson before settling in Calgary in the early 1970s. Jim was happiest in the kitchen, creating his homemade soups, sauces and preserves. A true prairie boy, Jim loved sports, especially curling and hockey. During his decades of work in sales, Jim made many friends both in Calgary and in his travels through Alberta. He proudly worked with his business associates on a number of charitable projects. Jim will be missed by his loving family: two sons Jay (Nicole) Shukin and Randy Shukin; step children Brook (Sylvia) and Lara (Dan); brother Larry (Eleanor), sister Pearl (Sam), and their children; three young people who cherish Jim as their “Grandpa” – John-Edward, Hanna and Julia; and loving companion Marian. At Jim’s request, no funeral will be held.
