Obituary of Ronald Leroy Baker
Ron beloved husband of fifty two years to Bernice (Bunny) of Calgary, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the age of 76 years. He faced his brief battle with cancer with courage and dignity.
Ron was born in Ottawa, Ontario on July 11, 1932. He was a family man with a big heart. Ron loved his golf, his T.V. and his best friend and pet “Mugs” and was a long time member of Shawnee Slopes Golf Club. As a young man Ron played professional football for the Ottawa Roughriders in 1953 and 1954, and for the BC Lions in 1955 and 1956. Ron’s main career was in the Oil and Gas industry, working for Pacific Petroleum and Petro Canada.
Ron will be dearly missed by his wife Bunny, his daughter Cheryl Coy and her husband Wally; his son Geoff and his wife Sue; and his much loved granddaughter Allison and grandsons Scott and Stuart. Ron was predeceased by his parents Roy and Rene Baker and his sister Barbara Rochon.
A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
