Obituary of Grace Komperdo

It is with great sadness that our mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, wife and friend has peacefully gone home to our lord, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. Grace was born in Alberta though lived in Vancouver for the last twelve years where she had many friends. She loved doing crossword puzzles, reading her star magazines and collecting cat figurines, she always talked about her cats back in Vancouver. One of her favourite pastimes was playing bingo; she could play eighteen cards of her own as well as keep an eye on six of her friend’s cards. Grace loved to visit her family as often as she could but didn’t like the bus ride. When Grace couldn’t come down she always made a point of calling everyone just to say “hello”. Grace loved going with Rene for walks, were ever they happen to be. Grace is survived by her best friend and spouse Rene King (Matched her cat); her children; Angel (Erwin), Alvin, Shelaine (Reg), Terry, and Kristin (Randy); She was also very proud of her grandchildren Jacob, Morgan, Evan, Erwin Jr., Aedan, Blake, Melinda, and soon to be Haley: three sisters, Rachel (George) First Rider, Vera Stevens and Florence (Tama) Black Rider; adopted sisters Sheila and Eileen Black; special nieces Joyce First Rider , Marvine Winnipeg (Larry), Bernice (Edward), the Back Fat and Black Rider families, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace is predeceased by her parents Jack and Albertine Low Horn; her first husband Brian Komperdo; brothers Brian, Hubert, Gary and Terry; sisters Hilda, Maryrose, and Evelyn. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Joyce First Rider (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday March 10, 2009 at 7:00p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation AB) on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
