Blanche Hatton

Obituary of Blanche Hatton

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our much-loved mother and grandmother, Blanche. Blanche was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Thomas and Bella Stewart and moved to Calgary with her husband, Harold Switzer. She retired from both Eaton’s and the Royal Bank. After retiring, Blanche enjoyed volunteering at the Father Lacombe Nursing Home, hiking, cross-country skiing and baking. Blanche was an extremely good person who was honest, kind and generous. It would be difficult to find anyone who knew her that was not touched by her thoughtfulness, gentle-nature and beautiful smile. Grandma was devoted to her family and loved them dearly. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Mary Buehler, son Thomas (Carol) Switzer, and grandchildren, Lynn (Phil) Gair, Cara Buehler (husband Andy Buchwitz) and Mark and Tara Switzer. She was predeceased by her loving son-in-law Jim Buehler. “Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday. God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts.” Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Poppy Fund, #1, 4539 – 6th Street N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 3Z6, Telephone: (403) 265-6304.
