Obituary of Reginald Wilson Salt

Dr. Reginald Wilson Salt of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the age of 98 years. Reg was born on September 10, 1910 in Loughborough, England and attended public and high school in Calgary, and universities in Alberta, Montana, and Minnesota where he earned his PhD. As a professional entomologist he worked for the research station in Lethbridge from 1930 until his retirement in 1970. Family and friends will remember him for his wood-carvings which he continued to produce until his death. Reg is survived by his daughter Lucille (Edwin) Cossins of Edmonton, AB daughter-in-law Dodie Salt; granddaughter Carolyn (Phil) Blower; grandson Rob (Lori) Salt; five great-grandchildren, Tommy, Jimmy, and Alex Blower, and Shelby and Jackson Salt all of Calgary. Reg was predeceased by his wife Beulah; son Doug, and granddaughter Diane Cossins. Reg’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Rockyview General Hospital Emergency Department for their compassionate care.
