Obituary
Obituary of Jean Annabelle Fisher
Loved and cherished wife, mother and grandmother, Jean Annabelle Fisher, passed away at her home on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the age of 77 years.
Born in Didsbury, AB, Jean spent most of her younger years in this farming community before attending the University of Alberta and graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science Degree (Home Economics). She married Roy in 1954 and they lived in Fort St. John, Redwater, and Edmonton before settling in Calgary, where she raised her children. While attending university, she spent her summers working at Chateau Lake Louise which formed the foundation for a great love of the outdoors that would pass on to her children and grandchildren. Jean had a very adventurous spirit and enjoyed visiting many exotic places with her husband Roy. Treks to the base camp at Mount Everest, to the summit of Kilimanjaro, scuba diving, and powder skiing some of the most challenging mountains were surely accomplishments few have achieved. Jean was always a very active member of her community, giving her time, energy, and enthusiasm, to so many people. From being a pianist at her church in Didsbury, teaching Sunday School in Fort St. John and Calgary, and being a valuable volunteer docent at the Glenbow Museum, to participating regularly in fitness classes and attending the Calgary Opera, Alberta Theatre Projects and The Calgary Symphony Orchestra, Jean has influenced and touched many lives. But to truly know Jean was to understand how passionate and adoring she was of her family. No one could ever argue that there was anything in the world more important to her. Her quiet devotion to, and her enthusiasm for her husband, children, grandchildren and what they were all doing was infectious. She brought everyone together. Jean was, quite simply, loved deeply by the family and so many life long friends and will be sorely missed.
Jean is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years Roy; her daughter Linda Fisher (Arnold McKee) of Medicine Hat and children Lindsay and Mitchell; her daughter Jill Jackson (Brad) and their children Nicole and Sean of Calgary; her son Robert M. Fisher (Tracey) and son Benjamin of Calgary; her brother Bill Rennie (Shirley) and their children Blake and Marlee of Calgary; cousins, Betty Hunter, Ken Morris (Ros), Carl Morris, Ron Morris, Doreen McEwan, Shirley McEwan, and Patricia Krebs (Harold); and her nephew Doug Colwell (Sheila Torgunrud) and their children Keri and Candice.
