Obituary of Elizabeth Violet George

Elizabeth Violet George of Calgary passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Elizabeth was born February 28, 1920 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and raised in Regina. Elizabeth enjoyed a long career with the Alberta Provincial Government as a social worker. She dedicated her life to the care of children, serving as president of Child Find of Alberta and Canada. Elizabeth was also president of Sien Lok Society and volunteered many hours for the Arthritis Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Norman (Arleen) Patrick of Regina, SK. and Daughters, Emilie (Allan) Onagi of Calgary, AB. and Sharon (J.R.) Vanchu of Seattle, WA; as well as six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Harrison of Regina and Helen Kormylo of Calgary; niece Jo-Anne Kormylo and great niece Andrea Kormylo. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Young.
