Obituary of Barbara Margaret Hilchie

Barbara passed away at the Sarcee Hospice at the age of 78 years. Barb was born in Calgary. She married Robert Gerald Hilchie on November 18, 1950. She enjoyed camping, hiking, swimming, skiing, gardening, sewing, ceramics and square dancing. She always had dogs as companions. In her later years she especially enjoyed her dogs, Sophie, Buddy and Marcie, many of whom excelled in obedience, tracking and other awards. She was one of the original cashiers at the Brentwood Co-op, working there until she retired. Barb is survived by her four sons, William (Vicki), Gerald (Carol), James, and Thomas (Joyce); and her grandchildren, Adrian, Greg, Duncan, Jillian, Alana, Kimberly, Erin and Lisa. She is also survived by her brother Martin (Kathy) Lundmark and her sister Margo (Don) Friesen. Barb was predeceased by her husband Robert and her parents Nils and Helga Lundmark. “We were not pioneers ourselves, but we journeyed over old trails that were new to us, and with hearts open.
