Obituary of Thomas Henry Maxwell

Thomas Henry Maxwell, beloved husband of Marguerite Maxwell of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2009. After a long and fearless battle with cancer, he left this world at 81 years young. Tom was born and raised in Jasper, AB and lived for several years on the family farm in Ireland. He met the love of his life, Marguerite Frederickson, in Jasper and they recently celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary. Tom, Marg and their three children, Shannon, Linda and Tom, lived in Saskatchewan for many years and later settled in Calgary. Tom achieved much success in his career in the pharmaceutical industry but his one burning desire to get a hole-in-one on the Shawnee Golf Course eluded him! Tom and Marg created many happy memories with their friends during their trips to Hawaii and Arizona and family gatherings in Victoria. Tom will also be remembered for his sense of humour, his heartwarming smile, his Irish charm, his positive attitude, his love and pride of his family, and his warrior attitude in the face of many health issues over the past few years. Nobody could tell a better story than Tom. Memories of his youthful escapades growing up in Jasper and Ireland will long be remembered by family and friends. Tom would tell you that the most important thing in life is family. He was much loved and will be ever remembered by his children, Shannon (Dan) Chisholm, Linda (John) Mannix, Thomas Maxwell; grandchildren, Jenny (Stuart) Leckie, Jim Chisholm, David (Noer) Mannix, Tom and Danny Mannix, Amanda, Delaney and Chase Maxwell; and his most beloved great-grandchildren, Sadie and Rory Leckie. His sister, Doreen Ruddy and her family in Victoria, will keep him in their hearts. Tom was predeceased by his beloved brother Jim who died in WWII. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
