Obituary of Laszlo Hovany

Laszlo Hovany, beloved husband of Margaret A. Hovany, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at the age of 85 years, after a lengthy illness. Laszlo was born, raised and educated in Pecs and Budapest, Hungary. He took four years at the Mechanical Technological School and then took two and half years at Mechanical Engineering in Budapest, Hungary. On May 14, 1957, Laszlo immigrated to Canada. He married Margaret in 1958 and was employed by Canadian Stratigraphic Services Ltd from 1957 to 1980 and joined the Union Oil of Canada until 1990, when he retired as a draftsman. Laszlo enjoyed music, crafts, arts, carpentry, gardening, fishing and authoring. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church from 1981 to 2009. Besides his loving wife and friend, Margaret, Laszlo is also survived by his half brother Gyozo Hovany (Katy, Tom and Balazs) of Budapest, Hungary; nieces, Maria (Miklos) Kossanyi of Cleveland, OH, and Sophia (Eugen) Etlin of Switzerland; as well as numerous in-laws, relatives and friends in Budapest, Hungary and Calgary. Laszlo was predeceased by his mother Ilona Lukacs; father Gyozo Hovany; aunts, Margit, Nora, Laszlo Lukacs, all of Pecs and Debrecen, Hungary.
