Obituary of Francis Carver Swartzlander
Dr. Frank Swartzlander beloved husband of Patricia Swartzlander of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Sarcee Carewest; Nursing Home Friday, February 20, 2009 at the age of 87 years.
Frank was born in Calgary on November 9, 1921 to Henry and Marie Swartzlander. He graduated with a Medical degree from the University of Manitoba in 1950. He went on to specialize in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota.
He began private practice in Calgary in 1955, where he practiced for the next 30 years. Frank married the love of his life Patricia (Moore) Swartzlander in 1960, and had 48 beautiful years together.
Frank will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Patricia, daughter’s Susan (Joseph) Kasper andMargie (Peter) Hass; their collective grand children Patrick, Harrison, Samuel, Christopher and Joelle. He was predeceased by his only sister Margaret (Peggy) Stack. Frank was considered a wonderful father figure and mentor to her seven children, Paul, Barry, Carlyn, Frank, Luke, Cathy and Louis.
The Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4 street S.W., Calgary)on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The Swartzlander family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Unit 101 at Sarcee Carewest for their kindness and loving care of our dad “Dr. Frank”.
